Adelphi University‘s hands-on Sport-Based Youth Development specialization offers students seeking an MS in Sport Management or an MA in Physical Activity Studies the option to enrich their graduate experience.
Offered by Adelphi’s Ruth S. Ammon College of Education and Health Sciences, the specialization prepares students for careers in community-based organizations, school systems, youth sports programs, and recreation settings.
Students graduate with a variety of knowledge and skills required for leaders in charity and for-profit contexts who want to utilize sports for good.
Individual learning styles, schedules, and requirements are met through programs provided at Adelphi’s Garden City and Manhattan campuses and some hybrid and online sessions.
Interested students of the said program will also be expected to learn how to plan and administer programs and understand the ins and outs of marketing, communications, fundraising, and evaluation.
Former players, student-athletes, sports and exercise science majors, and others will obtain the skills needed to alter children’s lives through sports and establish healthy communities through this flexible program.
Upon program completion, students earn an MS in Sport Management or an MA in Physical Activity Studies, with a Sport-Based Youth Development emphasis.
Graduates of the Sport-Based Youth Development specialization have gone on to work as program managers for community-based organizations, sports coordinators for youth sports programs, physical and health education teachers in public and private schools, and more.
