Selkirk College Continues Virtual Classes for International Students Until Fall

With the global pandemic still an issue, Selkirk College decided that for the new semester, international students will have to attend virtual classes. The earliest possible resumption for in-person classes may be this fall, around September of 2021. The unavailability of in-person classes extend to domestic students as well. This is the college’s way of ensuring the safety of all its students that include the 49 registered international students for this year.

As Selkirk College spokesperson Bob Hall has said, “At Selkirk College, we want everyone to feel confident in the fact we go beyond federal and provincial expectations as far as regulations and protocols and that goes for our international program as well.”

So the community can just hope that by fall, the COVID-19 issue would be resolved so that all its students can enjoy learning in a live classroom setting again.

Selkirk College recently received emergency assistance funding worth $334,500 to help students and their families thrive during the pandemic. Living expenses, travel, food and tools are covered so that students will have full support when they return to the campuses in the school year 2021-2022. The funds are non-repayable and students can have access to these by inquiring at the school’s financial aid center.
