Stranded Indian Students Studying Overseas Entitled to Government Aid

Indian students enrolled in universities overseas who are still in India due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions can contact their OIA-II Division for help.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted that international students with issues about their studies should connect with the Ministry of Education.

According to the MEA statement, “Indian students studying abroad who are stuck in India owing to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions and mobility issues can send their coordinates, that is, email ID and mobile number to OIA-II Division at Emails: us.oia2@mea.gov.in and so1oia2@mea.gov.in.”

Students in India who are enrolled in foreign universities and colleges for this coming school year suffer from different border restrictions worldwide. As a result, most are stuck in India and coping through virtual learning.

Aside from that, one of the problems Indian students face is the need for revaccination once they land in their respective study destinations, such as the US. Covaxin and Sputnik V, which are being given to India at present, are not yet approved by the World Health Organization (WHO). Most universities and colleges overseas require incoming students to be fully vaccinated before the start of the semester.
