Top 3 Festivals in Ireland You Should Visit

Australian Festivals You Should Not Miss

Australia is known for its beautiful nature and beaches. But did you know that Australian festivals are some of the most extravagant there are?

Here are some of the best Australian festivals you should not miss while in the country.

Adelaide Festival

Summer in Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia, is an exciting season due to the Adelaide Festival.

The Adelaide Festival is an annual festival which usually lasts for two weeks and starts in the summer of March. During the festival, people get to watch renowned artists from various fields in the culture and arts perform. These fields include music, theatre, visual arts, dance, and even opera and art installation.

In 2020, the Adelaide Festival celebrated its 60th anniversary, and the audience has enjoyed the performances and shows of many outstanding international acts and productions.

The festival also prides itself for being environmentally friendly. The festival has committed itself to being a carbon-neutral festival.

Vivid Sydney

Sydney, probably the most famous city in Australia, hosts its festival of lights every year through Vivid Sydney. Aside from its immersive light projection and installations, the festival also showcases different performances from both local and international artists, and ideas from various thinkers.

Thus, during the event expect different types of activities and performances, from concerts including bands, soloists, and other emerging music, to forums and talks led by the current and next generation’s creative and innovative thinkers.

Sydney’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras

The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras started in 1978 as an activity done in solidarity with the Stonewall anniversary and the march against the then anti-LGBTQ+ Briggs Initiative in California Ballot.

The group that was formed during those times in Australia was called the Gay Solidarity Group. Later on, after the group decided to add a nighttime, fun celebration during those trying times, the event became known as Mardi Gras. The first Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is not a fun activity though, as many were arrested. However, since then, the LGBTQ+ community in Sydney has run Mardi Gras every year.

Now, people get to enjoy this fun event in Sydney every year in Oxford street. During this event, the city transforms into a colorful parade, full of performances, dancing, music, and floats from its participants. Every year, this festival gets bigger and attracts more foreigners to join.

The Rocks Aroma Festival

If you love coffee then you should visit Sydney’s annual The Rocks Aroma Festival. The festival is Australia’s biggest coffee-themed celebration. Coffee makers across Australia join in this event to demonstrate the best ways of preparing a coffee brew and so much more. Other coffees from other countries are also part of the event.

Aside from coffee lovers, foodies are also welcome in this event. You can partner your coffee with various types of food—sweets, savory snacks, and so on. There are also many activities including workshops and other coffee-themed activities for everyone.

Experiencing Australian festivals is a good way to learn more about the country’s culture, and at the same time enjoy.
