Best Ways To Spice Up Your Way of Studying

Best Ways To Spice Up Your Way of Studying

After all, part of the learning process is to go through challenging material, and that’s not going to be a piece of cake, but there are things you can do to add a little bit of spice to your studies to make them enjoyable and more productive than ever.

Now, before diving in, if you really want to make your studies fun, you need to spark interest in your topic. Unless we don’t bathe ourselves with a genuine willingness to learn, that can be a little bit tricky at first because, for most people, studying can feel like a chore.

So, you need to set your head first in the right mindset to get your brain cogs grinding. A good piece of advice would be to do your research first before jumping right straight into the rigorous details.

Something like interesting clips on YouTube, short documentaries, facts on Wiki pages, or maybe a game or perhaps a series that’s connected to the topic to help you introduce to the subject of study–because wouldn’t it be boring to study about something you don’t know what the context is about?

Let’s say, even if you motivated yourself to start, eventually the fuel for your grind would run out, so the real key to making your studies engaging lies in consistency: your ability to manage your study sessions, create the ideal environment, and rewarding yourself after a good session to keep the flow going.

Here are some valuable tips to make your studies more engaging:

Manage your studies

Set a goal of what you’d want to achieve. It doesn’t always have to be a long-term goal, but do not set unrealistic expectations. Try to manage your time by estimating how long it would take for you to study, divide it, and break it into chunks in your calendar or timetable to make your studies easily digestible. Remember that it’s hard to tackle an entire topic at once (it’s like eating an entire pizza!) so remember to slice it into smaller, bite-sized parts and see which steps you can take.

Create your comfort zone

Find your ideal study corner where you can organize into a comfortable space to focus on your studies. It doesn’t have to be boring though, you can spruce it up by asking yourself what changes you’d need to do to make it a fun and a personal space. What would make it more appealing to look at, what helps you focus, and which supplies do you need for your studies? Don’t be afraid to make it your comfort zone.

Gamify your studies

Turning your studies into a game is an excellent way to keep you going. Maybe do some daily study challenges with a friend on who gets the most correct answer, try competing against yourself by using flashcards to see how many answers you can get right or how much you can retain information in a small amount of time.

Take small breaks

Try to take short timed intervals from your work. Set a Pomodoro timer; 25 minutes of study and 5 minutes of break would be ideal, then repeat that until you finish your task. Remember to stretch and hydrate during periods of break.

Reward yourself

Reward yourself for your effort. Make it so you’d deserve it after a study session. This can motivate you to push forward with your studies, so make sure to make your rewards not accessible all the time.

Of course, the approach of tackling homework can be different from student to student, and even day by day, so ultimately this is a process of trial and error, and it’s okay to fail the first time. Studying may not still be fun but discovering which works for you may make the experience more enjoyable and effective.

Hopefully, these simple steps can help you get a starting point on how to make your activities a little bit more engaging so you could find more ways to make your studies interesting.
