With about 1,500 international students enrolled in Delhi University (DU) at present, the university has received 1,324 applications from foreign students for the 2021–22 academic year, almost nearing the current figure in their records.
Despite the impacts of the pandemic on international student life, applicants from 61 different countries across the globe have applied for the upcoming academic year. Even during this time, international students find Delhi University as one of the best study destinations for them.
According to the DU Admissions Chairperson Rajeev Gupta, the highest number of applications came from Afghanistan, Nepal, and Tibet with 320, 185, and 156 international student applicants respectively. The university also received a high number of international student applications from Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Angola, Gambia, and Lesotho.
Delhi University started the application process for international students in April. For the selection criteria, student applicants were assessed on the basis of their merit, the number of seats available, and eligibility criteria proposed by the respective department, among others.
The university extended its deadline for application to undergraduate programs to June 30 and to July 15 for postgraduate programs. Interested M.Phil. and Ph.D. students may still submit their online application forms until July 30.
