How To Avoid Common Freshman Year Regrets

How To Avoid Common Freshman Year Regrets?

Here are some common freshman year regrets and ways how to avoid them:

Picking morning classes even if you’re not a morning person

Freshman students are very much excited to attend college classes but if you are not a morning person, it is best not to pick an 8 AM class. It may be an easy task when you were in high school as your mom is there to wake you up, but in college, you only have yourself. Taking a morning class may cause your brain to be sleepy and unproductive.

But if you maintain a body clock that wakes you up at the same time every day, a morning class could be a good choice.

If you do not have a choice on the course since it is taught in the morning, learn how you can wake up early. Create an 8-hour schedule to avoid piling all your classes. When selecting your schedule, do not forget to choose them based on your needs and habits.

Waiting until the last minute to accomplish work

A lot of projects in high school can be done in one sitting or maybe days before the deadline, but that’s not the same with college projects. You may need to work in the library in a couple of days for an essay’s extensive research. The quality of your work can be quickly noticed by your professors, so make sure to submit your best work.

Procrastination is not a good habit to have. This may cause issues like late submission of homework, even if it is just some minutes late.

Do not wait until the last minute to finish your work. It could result in a low grade that you wouldn’t like. It is always best to accomplish tasks ahead of time, so if something comes up, you have time to fix it.

Eating Unhealthily

Bad eating habits are unavoidable during freshman year. Unhealthy foods like soda and chips are widely accessible in your school cafeteria. But you always have a choice to say no. You may find it difficult to say no at first, but once you avoid such eating habits, you will not have difficulty sleeping and you will be more focused during the day. But reward yourself some treats every once in a while.

Consume nutritious foods as well as fruits, vegetables, and more. This way, your body, and mind will be ready for more lessons to be absorbed.

Your freshman year is a good opportunity to kick-start what other things you will accomplish in the next years in college. Mistakes make an experience a learning opportunity. Plan so you can avoid regretting them.
