Largest Admissions Event At Alvernia University Welcomes Over 325 Prospective Students

Alvernia Universityโ€™s inaugural Packapalooza event brought over 325 prospective students interested in undergraduate, graduate, and accelerated bachelorโ€™s degree programs, making it the largest admissions event in the universityโ€™s 63-year history.

The event drew a crowd that was 50% larger than any previous open house, and guests were met by the complete Alvernia family and had the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with individuals who make the Alvernia experience so transforming.

Key Takeaways:

  • Over 325 prospective students attended Alvernia Universityโ€™s largest admissions event in its history.
  • The turnout was 50% higher than any prior open house, and visitors were greeted by the entire Alvernia family.
  • In 2020 and 2021, Alvernia University welcomed its two largest entering classes, and it has lately gained recognition for its work with first-generation college students.

According to Mary-Alice Ozechoski, Alvernia University Senior Vice President for Enrollment and Student Affairs, the institution is preparing to enroll another record-breaking class of incoming students for the third year in a row.

Alvernia University welcomed its two largest incoming classes in 2020 and 2021 and has recently received accolades for assisting first-generation college students as well as the Berks County Peopleโ€™s Choice Award for higher education.

Packapalooza was created to be a totally customizable open hour experience where prospective students could select the tours, lectures, and workshops that best suited their interests and requirements, as well as learn about all of Alverniaโ€™s services and support.

At the universityโ€™s new downtown Reading campus at 401 Penn St., the event also included private meetings with faculty members, FAFSA assistance, food trucks, and a coffee with the president.

Alvernia is increasing its academic offerings, including engineering programs and a Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies Program, through the Reading CollegeTowne and Pottsville CollegeTowne initiatives.

The university is a catalyst for economic activity in the regions it serves. Many new strategic relationships have resulted from the CollegeTowne projects, allowing students to participate in new experiential learning opportunities such as service-learning, internships, and study abroad.
