One hundred and fifty-eight international students can already apply for the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) after two draws on May 26. The program has invited eligible candidates who had profiles in the Expression of Interest (EOI) pool and Ontario Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream.
Applying for this program does not require students to be within Canada if all eligibility requirements are met. Candidates must have completed their academic program at a Canadian Designated Learning Institution, have an eligible job offer in Ontario province, and have the intention to immigrate to Canada.
Of the total 158 international students, 147 were part of the general draw in which EOI scores are at least 73. Eleven of the remaining candidates were invited through the Regional Immigration Pilot where there is no minimum score needed.
Points are based on skill level, work experience, wage, education, official language ability and region where candidates study or work. Depending on the labour market needs, the province may give 10 points at its discretion.
To apply for the Provincial Nominee Program, candidates must register an EO profile at the Ontario website online.
