SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) joined hands with Virginia Tech to establish the Institute for Global Education and Curriculum Innovation (IGE). The emphasis is to promote the innovation of the curriculum by developing the faculty that teaches trans-disciplinary engineering programs. The IGE was recently launched on July 1, 2021.
With this partnership, students can earn three degrees in five years from NMIMS and Virginia Tech. There will be international recruitments as well as a global center of excellence in research. This will have its campus in Mumbai spearheaded by professionals with global credentials in artificial intelligence, data science, and cybersecurity.
“We are thrilled to partner with Virginia Tech for yet another promising collaboration. Virginia Tech is a top-ranking university with established credentials in research, and their support will enable us to build a vibrant community of highly qualified academicians,” said Ramesh Bhat, the vice-chancellor of NMIMS Deemed-to-be University.
This partnership will also develop different generations of researchers. However, the success of the IGE will depend on the quality of postgraduate students recruited to apply to the institute. Faculty members will be tasked to publish valuable research in renowned and legitimate journals of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS).
