OIEG and Canada’s East Coast Language College Expand Vocational Education in North America

The Oxford International Education Group (OIEG) recently acquired the East Coast Language College (ECLC) located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The move is meant to expand its vocational education portfolio in North America.

OIEG’s acquisition of ECLC will see a new Continuing Care Assistant program by 2022. This new program aims to strengthen the vocational education offerings in the North American region.

By the same token, OIEG looks to build upon ECLC’s rich history and move it forward into a new chapter. In fact, the two entities share the same values of academic quality, care for students, and a passion for what they do.

Key Takeaways:

  • OIEG acquired East Coast Language College located in Canada.
  • Partnership aims to provide vocational education to students.
  • Pathway programs  pave the way for improving student’s access to adequate training before employment.

More than simply expanding its vocational education offerings, OIEG and ECLC will also grow the pathways program, giving current and future students a chance to study and eventually live in Canada. This is made possible by a model that allows students to work while studying, which can eventually lead to stable future employment.

Moreover, students will gain access to OIEG’s innovative hybrid study programs. The OI Digital Institute, aside from offering online courses, also offers a hybrid style of learning—online mixed with face-to-face classes. Thus, students get proper training even if they’re off-site.

What’s more, the pathways program ties in with the Canadian government’s goal of receiving some 1,233,000 new residents between 2021 and 2023. And with these students being allowed to work and study at the same time, they will gain the skills needed to become competitive and productive members of Canadian society.

“Our Career College route is a real validation of the quality of our educational models and our responsiveness to the needs of our local communities,” notes Lil Bremermann-Richard, the chief executive of the OIEG.

The Continuing Care Assistant program will be followed by similar programs in the near future.
