On-Campus Study Options Remain Top Preference Among Int’l PG Students

According to a poll of over 16,000 potential postgraduate students, on-campus study options remain significantly the preferred study option among postgraduate students.

The pandemic has not changed postgraduate study interests, based on the postgraduate study preferences survey conducted by FindAUniversity, experts in everything postgraduate since 2001, between June and August 2021.

Key Takeaways:

  • According to a survey, on-campus study options remain significantly the preferred study option among postgraduate students.
  • The findings are based on the postgraduate study preferences survey conducted by FindAUniversity.
  • Traditional mMaster’s and Ph.D. experiences are in high demand, especially among international students, according to the research.

The report discovered that traditional mMaster’s and Ph.D. experiences are strongly desired, particularly among international students.

Approximately two-thirds of incoming postgraduate students prefer to study on campus. When compared to students from other countries, UK students were more willing to participate in online or mixed programs.

Students from South Asia, particularly India, were eager to study on campus at the master’s level, according to the survey.

In general, preferences for flexible study are highest where students are most likely to study locally and lowest where students are most likely to study abroad.

At the doctoral level, 79% of students from South Asia and 71% of students from East Asia preferred on-campus study over online or blended options.

The shift is particularly pronounced in East Asia, where only 15% of potential Ph.D. students want to study online against the 30% of prospective mMaster’s students.

International students often seek to study a campus-based master’s or Ph.D. overseas, the survey added, with little significant difference between destinations.

According to Mark Bennett, director of Audience & Editorial at FindAUniversity, although the postgraduate study is inherently innovative, these findings are a reminder that the pandemic has not yet transformed how people desire to study in the future.

It has been emphasized that COVID-19 may be a catalyst for change by making online and blended learning more apparent, but the change will most likely be gradual rather than revolutionary.

FindAUniversity assured that it’s something they will keep an eye on in their research and analysis moving forward.
