On May 18, 2021, the Ontario government invited 138 international students to apply for the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The draw was made through the Expression of Interest (EOI) System in which students will be ranked and selected based on education, language, regional immigration, skill/work experience level, earnings history, strategic priorities, and other factors. The required EOI score is at least 77.
When it comes to the OINP score system, it all depends on the stream a candidate is applying for. The province may also give 10 points in response to the Canadian labour market needs.
Invited international students may then qualify for the Ontario Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream. This initiative gives successful candidates “a job offer in a skilled occupation at Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A or B of the National Occupational Classification (NOC), the opportunity to apply for a nomination from the OINP to permanently live and work in Ontario.”
The application process does not require the candidate to be inside Canada as long as all eligibility requirements are met. Similarly, a program from a Canadian Designated Learning Institution must be completed, in addition to a legitimate job offer in the province of Ontario and an intention to immigrate.
