Undergraduate Scholarships

Financial Aid

Stanford’s Financial Aid program is designed for applicants who need financial assistance. The scholarship coverage depends on the student’s family’s financial needs. Before admission, you must declare that you are interested in availing of the scholarship because it will no longer be available once the student is enrolled.

Qualifications include the student’s social security number or individual taxpayer identification number. This financial aid is only given to full-time enrollees.

Outside Awards

Stanford offers a limited number of scholarships to international students. So, it is suggested for foreign students to apply for outside awards. Although this may help in reducing Student Responsibility fees, this may not be used for parental contributions fees.

Once granted an award, you must report it to the University’s student portal.

Graduate Scholarships

Knight-Hennessy Scholarship

If you’re a Knight-Hennessy scholarship grantee, consider yourself a very smart student as they seek the best students in the world. It is open to all, regardless of gender, age, and nationality. You are entitled to full tuition and a living stipend once accepted.

This scholarship program is open for full-time graduate students at Stanford, may it be a single or dual degree. However, there is a priority for students to spend at least two years of study at Stanford.

A major factor considered is the time of undergraduate degree completion. The applicant must have acquired his/her degree after January 2015.

Tuition Fellowship

Tuition Fellowship is a merit-based financial help that does not require a separate application. For international Master’s students, you can avail of this scholarship offered by the Stanford Graduate School of Education. This scholarship is given alongside the admission acceptance. If you received your letter of admission with fellowship details, then you are eligible for the grant. Files are reviewed by deans and program directors to see who deserves a spot.

Additionally, Stanford also provides Nationally Competitive Fellowships. One example is the Ford Fellowship that awards $2,000 to qualified Engineering students. Meanwhile, the Hertz Awards grants an overall amount of $12,000 yearly. For medical students, the Gilliam Tuition can provide you $10,000 per year.

Probably one of the biggest bursaries is NASA which can cover your tuition of $20,500 annually. A stipend is also granted, amounting to $35,000 a year.
